Frequently asked questions.

Do I need a prescription or referral to be seen?

A prescription or referral for physical therapy is not required to be seen in our office. You can call and make an appointment today. Quick access to your physical therapist can often be the difference between an acute or temporary condition and chronic. You do not need to wait 3-4 weeks to be seen, we often have appointments available same day or within 24 hours.

What should I expect on my first day?

Please be prepared to fill out paperwork if you have not filled out our online forms. The initial visit includes a total body diagnostic to screen and assess functionally limited areas which will then be discussed with you. Following this assessment your treatment prognosis will be reviewed and discussed with you to ensure understanding of the diagnosis and next steps. Treatment is common on the first day and encouraged for quicker healing times, but not required.

What conditions can be treated?

At Jump 4 Wellness we are musculoskeletal experts and treat dysfunctions including: shoulder pain, bursitis, SLAP tears, rotator cuff tears, impingement syndrome, muscle strain, ligament sprain/strain, tendinitis (all regions of the body), golfer’s elbow, tennis elbow, knee pain, knee osteoarthritis, meniscus tears, IT band friction syndrome, ACL/MCL/LCL/PCL tears, post-surgical conditions, knee and hip replacements, carpal tunnel, thoracic outlet syndrome, low back pain, spinal stenosis, herniated/bulging discs, sciatica, nerve impingement, sports injury recovery, sports testing, labral tears, BPPV, vertigo, imbalance, general weakness, plantar fasciitis, achilles/calcaneal tendinitis, drop foot, whip lash, cervical impingement syndrome, headaches, migraines, insomnia/difficulty sleeping, and others. Many conditions are not found with imaging alone and need a clinical functional assessment as well to identify the underlying cause.

My problem is 5, 10, 15…30+ years old can it really get better?

Long answer short, absolutely. Our bodies develop compensations and adaptations to allow us to continue to function and go about our day. However, these changes to natural movement are slow and occur overtime and we can live with some of these “bad habits” for decades before they get properly addressed and treated. Even if the condition is “untreatable” the body’s response is definitely treatable and may be one of the key’s to achieving a more pain-free lifestyle. Here’s the catch, the longer a problem has been present, the longer it can take to treat due to muscle memory of the body and scar tissue. Bottom line: the earlier you treat a problem, the quicker it can get better; the longer the delay for treatment, the longer it takes to get better.

Do I have to pay for treatment in addition to my initial total body diagnostic?

If you elect to receive treatment on the first day, the initial total body diagnostic fee is waived and you only pay for the treatment.

I‘m not hurt, but moving isn’t as easy as it used to be, should I get physical therapy?

The body was designed to move regardless of it's age. Think of your body as a car. If you leave a car in the shed for 2 years and then decide to go for a joy ride, it may not run as well as it used to in its “hay-day”. Physical therapy is maintenance for your body, like an oil change for your car or a tune-up. Don’t wait for your engine to explode before you change your oil…don’t wait for your back or shoulder to go out before you get the nagging in your body addressed.

Do you take my insurance?

Jump 4 Wellness is focused on patient care and outcomes, as a result to provide the highest quality patient care we do not accept insurance at our practice to ensure 1 on 1 care with the DPT at all times.

What is a TPI assessment?

“TPI is the world's leading educational organization dedicated to the study of how the human body functions in relation to the golf swing.” It will specifically assess how your body is moving and how it relates to your golf swing. If your knee or shoulder hurts during or after golf it may be because of a functional limitation in the kinetic chain. A limitation in your head rotation can limit your backswing and reduce your drive by dozens of yards. A restriction in your hip may prevent proper rotation in the downswing forcing constant slicing and swaying. A TPI assessment addresses these specific limitations as they relate to golf to help golfers get more out of their golf swing.

Where are you located?

Currently we are a mobile service providing services directly to you at your home or choice of location. This takes the headache out of arriving on-time, or dealing with traffic and allows you to get on with your day faster.

Physical therapy didn’t work for me or my problems before, why is this different?

Physical therapy that is provided in today’s healthcare system is repetitive, impersonal, and ineffective because treatment is not being provided by the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT). A typical look at the corporate PT visit includes an evaluation from a DPT followed by exercises provided by an assistant or other staff member. These other individuals do not have the ability to assess movement dysfunctions and usually just follow a “guide” or “plan of care”. This is often why people attend PT for 3 or 4 visits/weeks and stop going, because the problem may have evolved, but has not been assessed properly due to lack of oversight from the DPT. At Jump 4 Wellness you work directly with the DPT at all times to target the underlying issues and develop a plan that promotes independence and mobility.

Side note: Due to the expert nature of the training our DPT has undergone and educational background, it is likely that our interventions at Jump 4 Wellness are different from previous experiences.
